Crafting With Purpose: How Your Handmade Cards Can Help Others

💕 Making Cards for Charity 💕

I've seen quite a few posts recently from crafters who are feeling a little disheartened. They absolutely love making cards, but don't want the hassle of selling them, attending craft fairs, managing orders, or dealing with the business side of things.

If that sounds like you, please don't stop crafting! 💖

For many of us, crafting is so much more than making cards. It's our relaxation time, our happy place, our creative outlet. For some, it's even a form of therapy—a chance to switch off from the stresses and worries of everyday life for a little while. If crafting brings you joy, helps you unwind, and makes you happy, why stop doing something you love?

There are so many charities and community organisations that would be incredibly grateful to receive handmade cards. Many sell them to raise much-needed funds, whilst others use them to bring joy to people who may be lonely, unwell, or going through a difficult time.

Some ideas to consider include:

💌 Your local hospice charity shops
💌 Local hospital fundraising groups
💌 Animal rescue charities and charity shops
💌 Church fundraising groups and community centres
💌 Care homes and nursing homes
💌 School PTA fundraising events
💌 Local cancer support charities
💌 Women's refuges and support centres
💌 Scout and Guide groups raising funds
💌 Charity coffee mornings and community fairs

You could also contact your local branches of:
❤️ Macmillan Cancer Support
❤️ Marie Curie
❤️ Age UK
❤️ British Heart Foundation
❤️ RSPCA
❤️ Cancer Research UK

It's always worth giving your local branch a quick call first, as every organisation has different policies on accepting handmade items.

Remember, your cards don't have to become a business to have value. Every card you make has the potential to brighten someone's day, raise money for a good cause, or bring a smile to someone who really needs it.

So if your craft room is overflowing and you're wondering what to do with your creations, perhaps consider sharing your talent with a charity that could benefit from your kindness. Keep creating, keep enjoying your hobby, and keep doing the thing that makes you happy. 🌸💕

I'd love to hear if any of you already donate your handmade cards and which organisations you support. 💖

Flowers have always been a huge part of my life. As a fully qualified florist, I spent many years surrounded by beautiful blooms every single day. Although I hung up the snips from day-to-day shop life quite a while ago, my love for flowers and plants has never gone away. I still enjoy dipping back into floristry now and again—whether that’s creating special gifts, working on events, or the occasional wedding. Alongside that, crafting has always been my other passion… so it probably comes as no surprise that the two have blended together over the years in the most wonderful way 💛 Creating flowers out of paper is something I’ve absolutely fallen in love with—and it’s been a passion of mine for over 20 years now.
