Today's Handmade Card Gallery Blog post and how we made them. Plus my favourite printing papers and adhesives

Published: January 7, 2026

Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening to all our lovely crafters wherever you are 🌸

I hope you’re all having a fabulous day so far. Whether you’ve already been busy at your craft desk, are just grabbing a cuppa, or winding down for the evening, I hope you manage to squeeze in a little creative time. Thank you, as always, for being such a wonderful and supportive community — it really is a joy to share ideas and inspiration with you all.

I’m also very excited for today’s launch — there’s a little bit of me in this one, with my favourite colours and a lovely floral feel throughout.

I hope you enjoy looking at the samples as much as we enjoyed making them. This kit is also a great one to use with your embossing folders and die cuts, so lots of creative possibilities to play with.

Wishing you a happy, relaxed, and very crafty day 💕✂️

Opulence by Design Crafts Delicate Florals Cardmaking Kit PDF Digital Download - Contains 20 A4 Pages

You can find the kit here on the website: https://shop.obyd.co.uk/b/4Zgts

This download contains:

20 A4 Pages of Toppers, Panels, Sentiments, Insert/ Outsert and Range of beautiful co-ordinating papers

This is what some of the sheets look like printed

I hope you like the samples from today's launch, i have tried to describe what i have used and a brief instruction on each of the cards below along with what we used.

How we made them and what we used

Simple A6 Card - the topper can be found on page 15 i used my printer settings to reduce the % to fit my project but you could also use the toppers that have already been created for you on page 14

I used some rose gold mirror card and black gloss card for mating and layering

You can find the Rose Gold here: https://amzn.to/49HJkr8 (there are some really pretty colours available i have linked specifically to the Rose Gold but there are lots of options available under the same link

The black gloss card can be found here: https://amzn.to/3LpjTBd i love the gloss look on this it really pops on the card

Sharing this stunning card made by our Laura for the launch, i just love the use of the pale pink card with the cream and silver. If you zoom right in you can see that she has used to stickles right on the edge of the rose petals and in the centres of the flowers for a really subtle sparkle.

Combined with a pretty embossed panel and a pretty die cut and finally some pearl gems to finish it off.

The topper is from page 14 and the backing paper is page 6 from the kit

I went a bit shabby chic with the above card

The backing paper launched just before Christmas so i had printed on my desk i thought it looked really pretty with the colours of the kit, if you would like to take a look at this paper you can find it here: https://shop.obyd.co.uk/b/7lGR1

The topper is from page 14

The sentiment is from page 10

The embossing folder is an old one from Creative Expressions

The die cuts are from Spellbinders dies

The above card is an A5 Card (A4 300gsm Card scored and folded in half to make a white card blank)

The cardstock i use for making my own cardblanks like this one can be found here on amazon - https://amzn.to/3N7cB5O

The focal topper is on page 14

The sentiment is on page 1

I popped a pretty die cut on the wonk under the topper for added detail - i believe this is a Spellbinders A2 Card Creator die but i couldn't find it on amazon to link it for you (sorry!)

Gold mirror card was used for matting and layering on the topper and sentiment - if you would like to take a look at the gold mirror card i used you can find it here: https://amzn.to/3LnUI1W

The wood effect paper is page 20

I really enjoyed doing the decoupage layers of the flowers on this one!!

The card style is a z-fold card - i printed page 3 onto the white super smooth gsm card ( https://amzn.to/3N7cB5O ) and scored and folded it to make the z-fold shape

I created the topper by cutting down the white rose part of page 3 and cut out some layers of the white rose to use as decoupage, the layers were spaced with 3d glue gel for dimension (you could also use foam pads if you have them) if you would like to take a look at the glue Gel it is from Craft Artist - you can find it here: https://amzn.to/4posBO3

The flowers were cut with my precision snips from Tim Holtz - these make fussy cutting so much easier you can find these here if you would like to take a peek - https://amzn.to/3N7eMpX

I roughed up the edge of the topper with a pair of scissors but there is a special tool from Tim Holtz that makes this process a lot easier you can find it here: https://amzn.to/4bommXb

I made a little mint green bow with green ribbon and attached it under the top layer of the rose

Both decorative die cuts are from Spellbinders the one on the front of the card is called the A2 Swirl and the one inside the card is i believe from the card creator range ( sadly these are no longer available on amazon to pop links on for you take a look at)

I added 4 mint green pearl coloured flat backed gems to the corner of the card to finish it off

We have had lots of lovely new members join us and a few have asked me what papers and glues i use so i thought i would do a little list for you

My favourite Paper and Card for printing:

Super Smooth 160gsm paper - https://amzn.to/49noaxb

Super smooth 300gsm card - https://amzn.to/3YtEqHV

Textured White hammered 300gsm card - https://amzn.to/49mw21R

Printable Vellum - https://amzn.to/4ptGsTv

My favourite Adhesives:

I usually use my Crafters Companion tape runner but they aren't available at the moment so i have been using these and i am really happy with them for the price - https://amzn.to/4qFJZPx if you don't know this brand i have been using them since 2008 but they are better known for their awesome titanium scissors

My hot glue gun - i love a glue gun i have 3 at the moment - a small hot glue, a small cool glue gun and a large one i use for flower arranging and home decor project. With glue guns i have had many over the years as well as glue pots and to be honest i like the little cheap and cheerful ones... there are conditions with this though, they have to have a metal tip (to help prevent dribble) it has to compatible with 7mm glue sticks as these are easy to get and and pretty cheap And it has to have a metal stand. I got mine when i moved back from Canada and it is a little work horse, i use it every day. The newer ones are a different colour but it is the same thing. You can find the newer version which also comes with glue sticks and a bag here: https://amzn.to/45A6HQX

**** top tip - I used to always worry about leaving my glue gun on, but now I use smart plugs on all of my craft room devices. It means I can quickly check — or switch things off — from my iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, wherever I am, without having to trek back upstairs just to double-check.

Vellum glue - i use this tape runner - https://amzn.to/4pDFC6Q

3d Glue Gel - i love the Craft Artist and Pinflair brands i am usually guided on price at the time

Craft Artsist 3dGlue Gel - https://amzn.to/4posBO3

Pinflair 3d Glue Gel - https://amzn.to/3N71M3H

Wet Glue - Acid Free precision glue for small intricate die cuts - https://amzn.to/3N71M3H

Wet glue - super tacky for larger areas - https://amzn.to/3YXfU22

Foam Pads for dimension -

Small squares - https://amzn.to/49H6spz

Larger pads from Hunkydory - https://amzn.to/4qaEDMc

Foam tape on a roll ( i still always add a little hot glue) - https://amzn.to/3LvHUqq

I hope you’ve found that helpful — if there’s anything else you’d like me to put together a list for, please do let me know.

Happy Crafting A xo

Let’s Talk About Those Flowers! April 28, 2026 Pretty Carnations Card So Many Questions… Let’s Talk About Those Flowers! 💙🍃 I recently shared a card over on Facebook, and I honestly wasn’t expecting the response it received! Paper Flowers Made Beautiful: Techniques, Tips & Inspiration

Buy This As A Download 🌸 Combining My Two Loves – Flowers & Crafting 🌸 This blog post includes amazon affiliate links - there is no cost to you but it helps support our blog posts and video tutorials. Flowers have always been a huge part of my life. As a fully qualified florist, I spent many years surrounded by beautiful blooms every single day. Although I hung up the snips from day-to-day shop life quite a while ago, my love for flowers and plants has never gone away. I still enjoy dipping back into floristry now and again—whether that’s creating special gifts, working on events, or the occasional wedding. Alongside that, crafting has always been my other passion… so it probably comes as no surprise that the two have blended together over the years in the most wonderful way 💛 Creating flowers out of paper is something I’ve absolutely fallen in love with—and it’s been a passion of mine for over 20 years now. Whether they are stamped, die-cut, or printed, there is something...
