To Foil or Not to Foil – The Choice Is Yours
I’m really excited to finally share my latest black and white backing paper designs, which have been created to give you complete flexibility in how you use them.
I have created a special section on the website just for these sheets - you can find them here
These papers work beautifully just as they are, making them perfect for elegant, monochromatic card designs where you want impact without colour. Black and white cards never go out of style, and these designs are ideal for clean, modern makes, sympathy cards, masculine cards, or when you want a timeless, sophisticated look.
Here is the overlapping circles sheet - i have simply kept this plain black and white. You can find this paper download on the website here

However, where these papers really come into their own is when you take them one step further.
Designed with Foiling in Mind
Each design has been created specifically so it can also be used with laminators and foiling machines such as the Minc. When printed using a laser printer, the black areas of the design allow foil to adhere beautifully, transforming the papers into striking foiled backgrounds with very little effort.
Gold, silver, rose gold, coloured foils – the choice is entirely yours, and the results can be completely different depending on the foil you use. This makes the papers incredibly versatile and a fantastic addition to your crafty stash.
No Laser Printer? You Still Have Options
If you don’t own a laser printer at home, don’t worry. Many local libraries still offer laser printing services, and it’s often very affordable. If you already have a laminator or foiling machine at home and would like to try foiling, it’s well worth popping into your local library and asking about their printers. It’s a great way to experiment with the technique without needing to invest in new equipment.
Sample Projects to Inspire You
I’ve created a range of sample cards to show just how versatile these papers are. You’ll see examples where the papers are used purely in black and white for a bold, graphic look, alongside foiled versions that add shine, texture, and a touch of luxury.
Seeing the same design used in different ways really highlights how much creative freedom these papers give you, whether you prefer clean and simple or glamorous and eye-catching.

New to Foiling? Discover the Basics and Get Inspired
Foiling with a Minc machine or laminator is a simple but effective way to add metallic shine to your projects. You will need a laser-printed design (inkjet prints will not work), reactive foil, and a carrier sheet. Place the foil over your printed design, cover the entire piece with the carrier sheet, and run it through your heated Minc or laminator.
It’s important that all printed areas are fully covered, as any exposed toner can transfer ink onto the carrier sheet during foiling. Once cooled, gently peel away the foil to reveal the finished design.
Many of my backing papers and designs in the shop have been specially created with foiling in mind, making them perfect for achieving crisp, elegant foiled results with ease.
