Cardmaking Joy: Turning Paper into Petals

A Fun and Floral Make – Today’s Card Project!

I’m so excited to share today’s project with you!

It was designed as a fun little project that you can simply enjoy putting together — the kind of make that lets you relax, unwind, and get creative with layers and florals. You can use it just as it is, or have a go at adding the flowers for an extra creative touch.

The flowers in this collection can be cut out and layered flat, “decoupage style,” or shaped to create a realistic 3D effect. They’re so versatile — you can use them on cards, envelopes, MDF pieces, glass, coasters, and much more.

You can find the Cosmos topper sheet on the website as an instant download here: https://shop.obyd.co.uk/b/ho4yK

There’s also a matching backing paper set, and Laura and I have used some of our print, cut, and form leaves with the flowers to complete the look.

How I Made My Card

For my version, I created an 8x8 card using the frosted paper as the main backing paper. I matted and layered it onto gold mirror card, which really brings out the warmth and elegance of the design.

The topper was trimmed down slightly and then also mounted onto gold mirror card for a touch of shimmer. To add a bit more interest, I tucked a cute Spellbinders die-cut underneath the topper on the wonk — just to give that little extra detail and dimension.

Next, I cut out the cosmos flowers, shaped them with a ball tool and foam mat and layered them up — each one has two layers for depth. The smaller cosmos flowers were cut from the backing paper itself, which ties the whole design together beautifully.

To complete the semi-crescent floral arrangement, I used some of my print, cut, and form ivy leaves, mixed with a few die-cut foliage pieces, to frame the handmade cosmos flowers. Then I finished it all off with die-cut flowers, beads, ribbons and wired gems for a soft, elegant sparkle.
