If you’re a flower lover or vintage-style cardmaker, you are going to adore our brand new Floral Focus Frames Sheets! Designed with timeless elegance in mind, these printable sheets feature two beautifully arched toppers, perfect for adding a soft, structured focal point to your cards.
Whether you're working with delicate pressed flowers, die cuts, or printed florals, these arches help ground your design and give it that gentle vintage aesthetic we all love. They bring balance and focus, making your floral creations feel both romantic and refined.

We’ve included some sample cards below to show just how beautifully these frames work as a backdrop — but today, we're also diving into one of our favourite creative pairings: pressed flowers! So if you've ever wanted to preserve blooms from your garden or create handmade florals for your cards, read on…
10 Top Tips for Pressing Flowers for Cardmaking:
- Choose Fresh, Dry Blooms:
- Pick flowers that are free from moisture, dew, or damage. The fresher the better — ideally, press them the same day they’re picked.
- Go for Flat-ish Flowers:
- Not all flowers press well. Opt for naturally flat ones like pansies, violas, daisies, ferns, and cosmos. For thicker blooms (like roses), press individual petals or carefully split them in half.
- Blot First:
- Gently blot your flowers with tissue or kitchen paper to remove any extra moisture before pressing.
- Use a Flower Press (or a Book!):
- A wooden flower press gives great results, but a heavy book with layers of blotting paper works just as well. Just make sure to avoid books with glossy pages.
- Layer Carefully:
- Sandwich your flower between two pieces of absorbent paper (like blotting paper, parchment, or even coffee filters) before placing in the press or book.
- Don’t Rush It:
- Leave your flowers to press for at least 7–10 days. They need to be completely dry and flat before using them on your cards to avoid mould or curling.
- Check for Colour Retention:
- Some flowers retain their colour better than others. Blues, purples, and whites often do well, while reds may darken. Experiment with different varieties!
- Store Carefully:
- Once pressed, store your flowers in an airtight container with baking parchment between layers. Keep them out of direct sunlight and moisture until you’re ready to use them.
- Apply with Care:
- Use a gentle glue like PVA, Mod Podge, or clear-drying craft glue. A fine-tip applicator helps avoid over-gluing and damaging delicate petals.
- Seal for Longevity:
- Pressed flowers are fragile. To preserve your artwork, consider lightly sealing with a clear spray fixative or placing behind acetate or in a card box frame.
