π₯ Preparing Your Eggs for Painting
Before you start painting, you need to prepare your eggs properly to ensure they’re safe and easy to work with. You have two options:
Blowing Out the Egg (Best for Long-Lasting Decor)
- Use a pin or needle to poke a small hole at the top and a slightly larger hole at the bottom of the egg.
- Blow gently through the top hole to push the egg contents out (use a bowl to save the egg for cooking).
- Rinse the shell with warm water and let it dry completely.
Hard-Boiling the Egg (Best for Short-Term Display)
- Place eggs in a pot of cold water, bring to a boil, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Let them cool before painting.
Choosing Your Paint & Supplies
Now that your eggs are ready, it’s time to get creative! Here are some paint options and decoration ideas:
Acrylic Paints – Great for bold, vibrant colours and detailed designs.
Watercolours – Create soft, delicate patterns and blends.
Food Colouring – A safe, natural way to dye eggs with unique effects.
Markers & Pens – Ideal for intricate linework or adding details.
Optional extras: Glitter, stickers, gold leaf, lace, or washi tape for extra flair!
Easy & Fun Painting Ideas
Spring Flowers – Paint daisy chains, tulips, or cherry blossoms for a floral touch.
Marbled Effect – Dip eggs into a mix of water, vinegar, and a few drops of oil-based paint for a swirling marble effect.
Cute Easter Characters – Turn your egg into a bunny, chick, or lamb with simple facial features.
Metallic Accents – Use gold or silver paint for a luxe finish.
Splatter Art – Flick different colours of paint onto the egg for a fun abstract look.
Pro Tips for the Best Results
