Why I Love Ranger Stickles: Adding Sparkle Without the Mess

If you’ve been following my crafting journey for a while, you’ll know I have an undeniable love for Ranger Stickles. They’re one of those craft supplies that I always have within arm’s reach, and honestly, I can’t imagine my creative process without them.

What makes Stickles so special? Well, they bring my cards to life in a way that’s hard to replicate. The beautiful shimmery glitter effect they provide is subtle yet striking—perfect for adding that extra bit of “wow” to your designs. Whether I’m creating birthday cards, festive designs, or even soft, romantic pieces, Stickles always seem to find their way into my projects.

I have been asked a few times for a list of the stickles that i use and i have been wanting to get to this but i knew this blog post would be a long one!!

I believe Stickles truly enhance my designs and cards by adding that extra touch of sparkle and sophistication, which instantly elevates the perceived value of the finished piece. Whether it’s a handmade card, an album, or another craft project, the subtle shimmer and precise application create a professional, polished look that stands out. Working in the craft supply industry, I’ve seen how toppers with foiling or glitter accents naturally commanded higher prices than plain ones, and I feel the same principle applies to handmade creations. Stickles are incredibly easy to use, cost-effective, and give even the simplest designs a high-end finish that feels both luxurious and thoughtfully crafted.

The Glitter Effect Without the Mess

One of the reasons I prefer Stickles over traditional glitter is their no-shed formula.

Let’s be honest: as much as I adore the look of glitter, the mess it leaves behind can be a nightmare. It ends up on your clothes, your desk, and sometimes even in places you didn’t know it could go!

Stickles, on the other hand, are clean and easy to apply, giving you the same stunning sparkle but without the stress of a glitter explosion.

How I Use Them in My Cards

Stickles are so versatile that they can elevate any project with minimal effort. I love using them to:

  • Highlight details on floral designs, like petals or leaves.
  • Add sparkle to backgrounds or accents.
  • Frame focal points with a glittery border.
  • Create faux gems or drops for a textured effect.

The fine tip applicator makes it easy to apply precise details, whether you’re adding dots, lines, or spreading it over larger areas.

My Favourite Stickles Shades

While I’m a fan of all the colours in the Stickles range, I do have a few go-to favourites. Crystal is perfect for creating a subtle sparkle that complements almost any colour scheme, while Golden Rod and Star Dust are fantastic for adding warm, radiant highlights. And let’s not forget the bold pop of Black Diamond—a great choice for more dramatic designs. Sea foam is a must have for leaves!

    A Must-Have for Every Crafter

Whether you’re a seasoned cardmaker or just starting out, Stickles are a must-have for your crafting stash. They’re affordable, easy to use, and have the power to transform even the simplest of projects into something truly dazzling.

If you haven’t tried them yet, I encourage you to give them a go—you might just fall in love with them as much as I have. And if you’re already a Stickles fan, let me know in the comments: What’s your favourite way to use them?

How to Store Your Stickles as Recommended by Ranger

To ensure your Stickles glitter glue stays in the best possible condition for use, follow these simple storage tips recommended by Ranger:

    1. Store Upright: Always store your Stickles bottles upright to prevent the nozzle from clogging or the glue from drying out.

    2. Room Temperature: Keep your Stickles in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Avoid exposing them to extreme heat or cold, as this can affect the consistency of the product.

    3. Cap Tightly Closed: Ensure the cap is tightly closed after each use to prevent the glue from drying out or becoming thick.

    4. Nozzle Up Storage Option: For frequent use, you can store Stickles nozzle-up in a desk organiser or box. This prevents air from getting trapped in the tip, making the glue flow smoother when in use.

What to Do if You Get an Air Block in Your Stickles

Air blocks can occasionally occur when using Stickles, causing the glitter glue to stop flowing properly. Here’s how to fix it:

    1. Gently Tap the Bottle: Before use, give the bottle a few gentle taps against your hand or a flat surface with the nozzle facing up. This helps move any air bubbles away from the tip.

    2. Use a Straight Pin: If the nozzle seems clogged or an air block is stopping the flow, insert a thin straight pin or needle into the tip. This clears any dried glue or air bubbles.

    3. Squeeze Gently: After clearing the nozzle, gently squeeze the bottle. Avoid pressing too hard, as this may force too much glue out at once.

    4. Store Upside Down: If air blocks are a frequent issue, you can store the bottle upside down in a holder (like a spice rack or upside-down desk organiser). This keeps the glue ready to flow without trapping air in the nozzle.

    5. Warm It Slightly: If the glue has thickened, you can warm the bottle slightly by rolling it between your hands or placing it in a cup of warm water for a few seconds (be sure the cap is on tightly). This softens the glue, making it easier to flow.

By storing your Stickles properly and following these tips, you’ll ensure they stay in great condition and are always ready for your next crafting project!
