Step-by-Step Guide:

Die-Cutting the Flowers: Start by selecting your favourite flower dies and cutting them out from coloured cardstock, vellum, rice paper or patterned paper. Or just plain white or cream and colour them in

You can mix and match different sizes and shapes to create a variety of flowers.

Assembling the Flowers: Layer the die-cut pieces to form the flower. Use adhesive to secure each layer, slightly offsetting the petals for a more natural look. You can curl the petals using a bone folder or a ball tool to add dimension.

  • Decorating the Centres: Now comes the fun part—decorating the centres of your flowers! Here are some techniques to try:Glossy Accents: Apply glossy accents to highlight natural details like the veins of petals or the centre of the flower. This adds a beautiful shine and makes the details pop.
  • Stickles: Add a touch of sparkle with Stickles. You can outline the petals or dot the centres for a glittery effect. Stickles come in various colours, so you can match them to your flower’s colour scheme.
  • Liquid Drops: Use liquid drops to create dimensional centres. They come in a range of colours and finishes, including matte, glossy, and metallic. Simply squeeze a drop onto the centre and let it dry.
  • Prills: These tiny, round beads add texture and interest. Apply a small amount of glue to the centre of the flower and sprinkle Prills over it. Press gently to adhere.
  • Pollen: For a realistic touch, use pollen to mimic the look of real flower centres. Apply glue to the centre and dip it into the pollen.
  • Flower Soft: This fluffy material adds a soft, textured look. Apply glue to the centre and sprinkle Flower Soft over it. Press lightly to secure.
  • Flock: Flock gives a velvety texture to your flower centres. Apply glue and sprinkle flock over it, then press gently.
  • Gems: For a touch of elegance, add gems to the centre of your flowers. Use adhesive to secure them in place. You can use a single gem or cluster several small ones together.

Finishing Touches: Once you’ve decorated the centres, let everything dry completely. You can then use your beautiful handmade flowers to embellish cards, scrapbook pages, gift tags, or any other craft project.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Experiment with different colour combinations and textures to create unique flowers.
  • Use tweezers for precise placement of small embellishments.
  • Mix and match different mediums to achieve a layered, dimensional look.

Creating handmade die-cut paper flowers is a wonderful way to add a personal touch to your crafts. With these techniques, you can make each flower a unique work of art.
