Pressed flowers card blog post with supply list

Happy Wednesday Crafty friends!!

Wildflowers are like nature’s little surprises, popping up unexpectedly in meadows, along roadsides, and even in our own gardens. They’re the rebels of the plant world—unintentionally planted, yet thriving with their unique charm.

Whether it’s the sunny faces of ox-eye daisies or the delicate pink petals of ragged robin or blue cornflowers wildflowers bring a touch of magic to our landscapes. Plus, they’re essential for wildlife, providing nectar for bees and butterflies. So, next time you spot a wildflower, give it a nod—it’s a tiny hero in the grand tapestry of nature!

Pressing flowers is like capturing a fleeting moment of nature’s beauty. 🌸✨

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just someone who appreciates the simple joys of life, pressing flowers can be a delightful and therapeutic activity. Imagine carefully placing delicate petals between the pages of a flower press or even a heavy old book, waiting patiently for them to dry and flatten. It’s like preserving a memory—a snapshot of a sunny day, a romantic stroll, or a special occasion. And when you rediscover those pressed blooms months later, they evoke nostalgia and a sense of connection to the past. So go ahead, gather those blossoms, press them gently, and create your own little botanical time capsules

This hobby isn't just for the summer, you can press all your round!! There are still flowers and leaves in the winter that can be pressed.

Make sure you get the most out of your cut flowers from the flower shop as soon as they start to turn you

can press lots of flowers to then use them in your projects.. and it's not just for cards and albums. You can use them for resin crafts, candles, soap making, cake craft - they have so many uses.

If you are able to cut mdf or you have a store near you that can cut to size i do have a downloadable tutorial for you to make your own flower press at home, and i am working on a little ebook for preserving if you would like to join the list for this you can message me here

Amazon have a really nice little starter kit which contains a press and a basic tool set - you can find that here: https://amzn.to/4cTmoEy

If you just love the beauty of pressed flowers and would like to use them on your cards without having to press them yourself - you can always buy your own packs of pressed flowers and leaves, there are some lovely ones on amazon

Check out this beautiful set with natural flowers and leaves - https://amzn.to/4fjOXga

Or this lovely colourful set - https://amzn.to/4bZ2xma

You can find more options on my facebook post i did here

** Please remember to seal your flowers if you are using them on cards or any papercraft project. You can seal them and glue them all with mod podge. This is so important as they are very brittle and delicate so to make them stand the test of time... it is always advisable to seal them.

You can find a great little starter bottle of mod podge here: https://amzn.to/4c53r0A

April 28, 2026 Pretty Carnations Card So Many Questions… Let’s Talk About Those Flowers! 💙🍃 I recently shared a card over on Facebook, and I honestly wasn’t expecting the response it received! I’ve had so many lovely comments, questions, and private messages about how I created the flowers — thank you so much 💙 It has got to the point where it’s just physically impossible to reply to everyone individually, so I thought the easiest (and most helpful!) way would be to put everything together here in a blog post for you. Flowers have always been a huge part of my life. As a fully qualified florist, I spent many years surrounded by beautiful blooms every single day. Although I hung up the snips from day-to-day shop life quite a while ago, my love for flowers and plants has never gone away. I still enjoy dipping back into floristry now and again—whether that’s creating special gifts, working on events, or the occasional wedding. Alongside that, crafting has always been my other passion… so it probably comes as no surprise that the two have blended together over the years in the most wonderful way 💛 Creating flowers out of paper is something I’ve absolutely fallen in love with—and it’s been a passion of mine for over 20 years now.
